European researchers’ night

What is?

The European Researchers’ Night (ERN) is an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005, with the aim of celebrating science and bringing it closer to citizens. Framed in the Marie (Skłodowska) Curie Actions (MSCA & Citizens), the European Researchers’ Night takes place simultaneously in more than 25 countries and many cities throughout Europe.

Science Multiverse – Meet the Heroes of the Science League! is the title of the project led by INOVA that seeks to:

• Bringing scientists and researchers closer to the non-scientific public
• Encourage young people to choose the profession of scientist and • researcher
• Celebrate science and research through play and educational activities
• Raising awareness of the importance of science, research and innovation
• Recognize the impact of science and research on society
• To deconstruct stereotypes associated with science, research and their professions

Science Multiverse engages the public at large in an adventure retrieved from the Superheroes’ comics characters, inviting the target audience to embark on a discovery journey full of excitement with stops planned in thematic universes. The story is built around the idea of an epic battle led by the Science League’ Heroes – awaken by Captain ERA when six multidimensional portals to alternative realities open.

Dark forces changed the course of science and research and blocked important discoveries. The multiverse is tragically unrecognizable and what has been taken for granted was lost.  The Science League Heroes are there to help. They will guide the various target groups in different missions (science education activities planned for the pre-events, the main event of the NIGHT and post-events) to recover lost pieces of our science history. Promoting interactions between researchers and the audience, these activities will explore international and European agendas and priorities (such as the sustainable development goals, Green Deal…), and inform, in clear, simple and concrete terms, about Horizon Europe research and innovation missions, MSCA, research projects…

Science Multiverse promises an amazing and enduring experience, to which all are invited…
