The European Researchers’ Night is an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005, with the aim of celebrating science and bringing it closer to citizens. Framed in the Marie (Skłodowska) Curie Actions, the European Researchers’ Night takes place simultaneously in more than 30 countries and 300 cities throughout Europe.
ScienceWars – May Science be with you! is the title of the event taking place in Porto and seeks to:
Bringing scientists and researchers closer to the non-scientific public
Encourage young people to choose the profession of scientist and researcher
Celebrate science and research through play and educational activities
Raising awareness of the importance of science, research and innovation
Recognize the impact of science and research on society
To deconstruct stereotypes associated with science, research and their professions
ScienceWars – Why?
ScienceWars – May Science be with you! is the motto and theme for a fun and engaging intergalactic battle for a more sustainable future with Science help.
In this event, R & D themes that are essential for the sustainability of the planets – Health, Food, Energy, ICT and Environment – will be addressed, making a connection with the StarWars movies and with the galactic universe.
During this event, which will take place at the Palácio das Artes on September 28th and at the Serralves Foundation on September 29th and 30th, participants will be encouraged not to only to interact with researchers from different scientific areas, but also to become researchers for a day!
Science and fun are the main ingredients of a diverse set of activities that include experiences, workshops, contests, networking, debates, shows, animation and more.
Entrance is free and open to all!
